LIVE FROM a future Grand Slam Final

Ladies and gentlemen

We want to welcome you to this great Grand Slam Final LIVE. It is being brought direct to you from the Colosseum in Rome so there are spectacular photo opportunities but it is also a fitting venue as slaves have fought for their Freedom and lives here many times.

Carlos the inconsistent wishes you to forget that in the not too distant past he went on record to claim "Dancesport is not entertainment". That was Mondays policy and today it is Fridays Policy. Carlos wants you to know this is surely sport. It was the opinion that "We have elevated Dance to SPORT status and changed everything to make it entertainment for the media."

We were privileged to be taken with the judges in their new compulsory uniforms (looking like an out of place song troupe) as they were ushered into a back room and given their orders. "We want no Non progressive judges here. THIS IS SPORT - Forget the characteristics of the dance, forget musicality and emotion, forget a man woman connection, forget technique (huge sighs of relief from some judges) we want none of those outdated ideas here, remember this is SPORT and you must be Progressive".

Then,to comply with the demands of the Italian Olympic Committee CONI the next words came "You cannot judge any couple you have ever taught or with whom there is connection". The situation was saved when the judges (fingers tightly crossed behind their back) swore they have never given any one of the competitors a single lesson, nor been associated with a certain Italian "Team" .

Now ladies and Gentlemen we come to the most exciting part of the evening. The competition is about to begin on this Sport tournament. The audience are baying for blood this is sport (soon to be in a Bullring) and a boxing tournament has not excited the audience more.

The athletes are lined up behind the starting line for the first event.. The strange thing is the couples stand far apart twitching like they have some form of illness. Is this sport?. There goes the starers pistol and they are are off. in the first sport Waltz. No.10 goes into an immediate lead so many spins, knocking over 3 other in the process whilst remaining on your feet is impressive. This is progressive. They must score highly with the judges. Yes No 10 has won the waltzsportdance. and even more spectacular they never once performed the old fashioned practice of closing the feet. Thats progress.

Now comes Tangosport and off they go. The men high on their toes forget the music and the technique here the aim is cover the floor. Impressive the number of times the ladies twist their leg round their partners and give the impression of wrestling holds. Could this explain why the ladies seem so tired they need to have a quick sleep on their partners shoulder?

Foxtrotsport next. Any couple able to show the greatest number of quicks and quick and quick is going to score highly. That old fashioned Slow Foxtrot does not belong in Sport, Extra points for the man who most adopts the silhouette of a banana and can keep his shoulders behind his heels and project his body around his partner and beyond her hips.

Now we come to the Viennese Waltzsport and forget what those silly people danced in Vienna to Johan Strauss and others. This is sport. The man who can best demonstrate the Boxing Upper Cut motion with the left arm is going to score highly as are those who can travel the greatest distances in the fleckerel. No. 10 are again showing they know all about Sport. They must win.

The final discipline Quickstepsport. The hurdles have been brought out onto the floor. The audience are in a frenzy which couple will be first to complete 4 lengths of the arena with clearance over the hurdles. Well No 10 again shows the others when it comes to strength and speed they have no rivals and the height the achieve over every hurdle is fantastic. In this discipline it is very important you remain in your own lane and do not impede your rivals and No 15 has been disqualified for putting one foot in the lane of No. 37.

We can now see just how silly was that old fashioned idea there should be body contact. This level of performance could never be achieved if we observed such nonsense. This is SPORT.

Well done No.10 what a wonderful demonstration of the progress made now we have SPORT. You may not be the best dancers but you know your athletics. You won easily and never once had to resort to showing the musicality, the expression, the characterisation, the technique, the emotion of the dance. That is Progress now we can proudly claim we are a SPORT.

Tomorrow we will report on the LATIN section. Latin Sport This is a special tribute and to honout our hosts.

The perverted thinking of the International Dance Sport Federation and their members

The Sports Director of the Malaysian Dance Sport Federation (the IDSF Member for that country) has his own "blog". In his opening address we can read these words -

MYDF is a Sports Body for both Amateur and Professional, and like any Sports Body we have rules to follow. That is reality

This to explain the IDSF policy of bans, boycotts, threats, denying dancers the right to dance, and coaches/adjudicators the right to work.

We then read his blinkered view on the serious developments in dance. Displaying outrageous hypocrisy he accuses the British Dance Council of Double Standards!! What was their crime they wrote a letter asking was an event to be run under BDC Rules and if not reminding the organisers of the Rules of the BDC. These wotds appear from our Sport Director :
BDC is behaving like the Orwellian "Big Brother" a veritable dictator and a pathetic school yard bully. All fair minded and thinking people would say change BDC to IDSF and you have it spot on. IDSF intend to impose their rules their values on every country in the world.

Shock horror! How dare they do something so outrageous!! IDSF Rules must be obeyed but any rules IDSF do not like must be ignored !! That truly is the convoluted thinking of the IDSF.

We read a lot of words about Freedom to Dance and how the BDC show double standards in this area. It is very apparent that the BDC are in fact fighting to retain Freedom to Dance in the United Kingdom. They know full well that as soon as you have IDSF events Freedom to dance is the first casualty. It becomes a closed event denying any person the right to dance unless they embrace the IDSF dictatorial regime..

What our MYDF Sport Director ignores is that many countless English dancers have rejected the IDSF way. When EADA was the Amateur Body within the IDSF they found countless couples rejecting invitations to represent their country in IDSF competitions/Cups/Championships. Now Dancesport England is the IDSF member and they have exactly 64 people registered. Many of these are are far from happy that in the intended first IDSF event in England there will be no events for them.

Now that English Amateurs have been provided to register with other bodies - the BDC direct, the Ballroom Dancers Federation, the Dance Promoters Association and the WDC Amateur League - there is little doubt members ship of EADA will decline in 2012. So the IDSF have worked their own brand of Black Magic to damage yet again a once respected Association.

Our Mr Sport Director has the audacity to write about Moral and Legal Rights. This coming from an organisation where in 2010 The IDSF member for Russia lost 4 Court Actions brought against it by Dancers and Judges. Their bans were delared illegal. He writes about BDC sinking into the gutter and why, they wrote a letter reminding an organiser they have rules. The logic from the IDSF sewer.

---------------------------------------

MYDF Sport Director 2nd April, 2011
:

I am indeed surprised by the contents of the letter below, what is more shocking to me is the letter comes from a Dance Body based in England. A country that have stood and fought many wars against tyranny and dictatorial regime. A country that gave the world West Minister Parliamentary democracy to many nations not only the Commonwealth. A country that up holds basic commonsense and fair play.
Could it be true that the British Dance Council (BDC) that has endorsed WDC AL call For "Freedom To Dance" are now finding it hard to live by that slogan after all. Now the President of BDC, Mr Bryan Allen appears to be curbing this Freedom.
He claims that acting on the instructions of the Board of Directors, BDC are asking Nick Kreminchenski and Olga Komarova to confirm that their "Crystal Palace Cup 2011 IDSF event will be held under BDC rules and not under any rules of any other organisation. Does that makes sense to you? An IDSF competition running under BDC Rules? I suppose a sane Englishman would say, what a load of poppycock.
Before we get into the legality of the acts of BDC, you can safely assume that there is an underlying threat made by the Board of Directors of BDC against the organisers probably to scuttle the Crystal Palace Cup 2011, should the championship be conducted under IDSF regulations.
Two Rules were quoted; BDC Rule 82(b) and Rule 57, where the sanction is disciplinary action. This bunch of Merry Andrews comprising the Board of Directors may perhaps suspend the organisers or terminate their membership, but we know that by that same BDC Rules, BDC will put out a message to boycott the event.

Are not the BDC being hypocritical, on the one hand they espouses "Freedom To Dance" but in the United Kingdom that Freedom to Dance no longer exists. This is a case of what is sauce for the Goose is not the same for the Gander. So I beg to ask what is so different about Competition in the United Kingdom that this Freedom to Dance concept is not applicable there? BDC is behaving like the Orwellian "Big Brother" a veritable dictator and a pathetic school yard bully.
BDC no longer have the moral or legal rights to criticize IDSF or any Dance body in the world for implementing their Rules. For a body that has existed since 1929, it is indeed sad to see it sinking into the gutter!

IDSF President Press Releases

Recently there have been 2 letters written by the IDSF President (2011/4 and 2011/5) and it would seem that there is a general sense of alarm in the IDSF. The President is claiming that there is widespread misinformation. In that respect he is very correct but the question must be who is distributing the misinformation and these letters open many questions.
.
IDSF, it would seem, are so alarmed at recent developments that they have written to the President of Sports Accord and the President of ARISF. It seems the IDSF message is believe us and ignore the evidence and everyone else. Panic? Frustration?

It would seem that the WDC Open Market Policy, the principles that everyone involved in competitive dance should have Freedom to Dance and Freedom to Work and be treated with dignity are a huge thorn in the side of the IDSF and causing them chagrin. These are principles enshrined in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and the Olympic Charter and the laws of many countries and each and every day IDSF are aware that they breach these principles in search for total power and control. When IDSF know what they are doing is wrong it is hard for them to find excuses to justify so we read such letters.

To suggest that the many people working for Freedom to Dance are false friends of dance is to stand logic on its head. This is a claim by the IDSF President which cannot stand scrutiny.

There is one consistency in these two filled with inconsistencies letters . IDSF want power, they want only an IDSF system and will stop at nothing in an attempt to achieve that..

There are words in letter 2011/5 concerning Coaches and Adjudicators with which I completely agree. Of course you will always have the connection between the two. However what the vast majority of dancers in the world question is the link between a certain "Team", started in Italy, and their coaches and adjudicators and the requirement that there "must be a return on investment". Many dancers ask why do IDSF fail to investigate? Why do the IOC not investigate? The question has been put directly to the Ethics Department of the IOC without them showing any interest.

Let us examine the letters.

2011/4.

This gives a report on the President's visit to England and the meetings he had. Meetings which did not always go the way IDSF wished. So we read gloss and spin. We also read the words about the "Progressive" coaches who wish to work with IDSF. Clearly stung by rejection the IDSF President believes it is good to insult many brilliant coaches who reject his thinking. There is almost desperation in his thinking and especially when he chooses to heap praise on someone who has made no contribution to the development of dancing in England and who was supposed to retire some years ago but loves the importance IDSF has besrowed upon him and clings to office.

We read these words:
Members will be aware of the ongoing discussions about the most famous English DanceSport competitions, and IDSF. On this subject, as on some other subjects in DanceSport today, there are too many rumours and guesses, and too few facts. I am writing to provide you with some current, accurate information about IDSF and England.
First, despite the rumours that are being spread by people who proclaim “Freedom to Dance” but are false friends to dancing, I emphasize what I have said before the IDSF Presidium will not take action against athletes, adjudicators and other officials who participate in the “Top Three” competitions in England in 2011, namely, the Blackpool Festival; the International Ballroom Championships at the Royal Albert Hall, London; and the U.K. Open Championships at Bournemouth, England.

The IDSF President regrettably does not tell us whom he accuses of spreading rumour but in fact is it not IDSF themselves?

•. IDSF issue a letter saying you can only dance within the IDSF system then issue a letter such as 2011/4 saying something else
•. IDSF write about 2011 and say nothing about 2012 and beyond. Progressive people care about their future.
• IDSF write about the International Championship and specifically mention the Royal Albert Hall, London, but ignore Brentwood in Essex. What is the situation regarding Brentwood where there will be many events for various age groups?

Perhaps letter 2011/5 gives us some answers. Perhaps, but who knows this is IDSF and what is policy on Monday need not be policy on Tuesday.

One time everyone was simply an athlete. We were told the terms Amateur and Professional belonged in the dinosaur era but suddenly we have an IDSF Professional Division. One time we had to believe it was SPORT and now it is "Artistic Sport". Tomorrow - who knows?

We read in this letter :
In addition, as you know, after repeated unsuccessful attempts to reach an agreement with WDC, IDSF followed the advice of IDSF’s late Ambassador-At-Large, Juan Antonio Samaranch, to establish our own IDSF Professional Division or “PD”. As one of our largest and most prominently successful members FIDS was the leader in this difficult process, and FIDS President Ferruccio Galvagno was person who was its most vocal and visible spokesman from 2006 until its creation. As a result Mr. Galvagno was the single person who was most identified with these initiatives.

Is this really the fact? Is Mr Galvagno not identified with the aborted IPDSC (International Professional Dance Sport Council) at the formation of which he received a tumultuous standing ovation and appointed to be Honorary President? Was the IPDSC not created following the endeavours of Mr Galvagno at an AGM of the IDSF? Remember of course IDSF went to Court and swore IPDSC had nothing to do with them it was totally independent. This begs the question also, what did the late Juan Antonio Samaranch know about dance? Did he have detailed conversations with the World Dance Council? How could he give advice when hearing only one side of a story? There are those with no connection to dance/dancesport who say it was a mistake to get so involved with only one IOC IF and it has stained his memory.

In 2011/5 we read these words

FIDS has begun to progressively enforce its rule that its athletes cannot participate in competitions which are not registered in the IDSF system, including WDC’s largest and most profitable competitions, which are produced in England

The overwhelming impression left by these words of the IDSF President is that he derives great satisfaction from the action of FIDS. Perhaps this explains what will happen in 2012 if these 3 English events do not become closed only to IDSF dancers and adjudicators. Perhaps it is the words of the IDSF President that explain the rumours.

The truth? WDC has no WDC events in England (save when they are awarded a World or European Championship). They certainly have WDC and WDC AL Ranking Events but they gain no profit nor suffer loss. Why give misinformation Mr IDSF President?

Reading letter 2011/5 one would conclude that Mr Alberto Pregnolato held high office with the Itailan Dance Council the WDC member for Italy, that he had been outspoken in his support of IDC/WDC and had supported and adjudicated regularly at the WDC AL Open World Championship in Paris. The truth is that this is not and has not been the case. We have IDSF innuendo in their attempt to damage Mr Pregnalato and the WDC. This is unacceptable from any organisation never mind one which claims to be "The" organisation.

It is most unfortunate that when letters are issued by the IDSF President they do not clarify facts, contain misinformation, unsustained allegations and raise more questions. .In recent months the IDSF has without doubt suffered severe setbacks through their policies.

Whilst all this has been going on the WDC have successfully negotiated an agreement with WADA, created an Education Department with a Committee including prominent Sport Coaches, had an event run under the auspices of the Russian Olympic Committee and seen their President honoured by the Russian Olympic Committee and also the Russian Government. Of course they have also been honoured by further growth in the WDC Amateur League. There has been growth in those interested in "Freedom to Dance".

The IOC have admitted they have no authority to impose one body in any activity. UNESCO CID have recognised the World Dance Council, WADA have recognised WDC in the Competitive discipline of dance. It is now time for IDSF to acklnowledge the existance and importance of the oldest body in dance and work for peace. To work for the development of dance for the benefit of everyone who loves the Waltz, Tango, Vienniese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive and of course all the many other dances.

IDO International Dance Organisation and IDSF

The International Dance Organization (IDO), is a World Federation with a membership of over 90 Nations, representing more than 250,000 dancers, from six continents.
The IDO grants the rights to conduct world and continental championship events and cups in its dance disciplines

The IDO has for many years held Associate Membership with both the WDC and the IDSF. It represents dancers in many disciplines including Salsa. Merengue, Argentine Tango, Street Dancing, Hip Hop and Disco. It is the recognised World Authority in these and other non Ballroom & Latin American dancing (the 10 dances)

For many years they were an important link in the IDSF Vision 2012. However it would now appear they are about to reject 2012 and will leave the IDSF and be linked only with the WDC.

A huge blow to IDSF that there Vision could be rejected by a body with representation in more countries than the IDSF.

Why do IDSF not step back, take a long hard look, and ask themselves "What are we doing that is so wrong?". The answer is not hard to find.
